What is Made to Order?
Some of the brands we carry don't keep stock. Instead, they make each piece only once a customer orders it. Here's what that means for you.
Made to Order, often abbreviated as MTO, means that the item is not produced until a customer places an order for it.
"The piece is made because you asked for it, not before."
When you order an MTO item on BONVION, the brand begins production specifically for your order. It comes to you fresh, made entirely in response to your purchase.
How it works
You Order You place your order through BONVION as normal. Behind the scenes, this triggers the brand to begin production on your item, after your written confirmation that you aware of the uniqueness of your purchase, which means you can not return this item, since it was made for you. During the confirmation you can cancel your order and get a full refund.
The Brand Sources & Crafts The brand prepares materials and begins making your piece from scratch, following their own production standards and timelines. Most of our brands takes 1-3 weeks to get your order ready.
We Keep You Updated Because these items take longer than off-the-showroom purchases, we'll make sure you always know where your order stands.
It Ships to You Once the brand completes your piece, they ship to our showroom for final inspection, then we ship it to you, most of the time via UPS.
Why some brands work this way
Intentional production MTO brands make only what is actually wanted. No overstock, no excess, just pieces made with purpose.
Higher quality control When something is made to order, it gets proper time and attention. There's no pressure to churn out volume.

Common questions
How long does an Made-To-Order item take? It depends on the brand. Each product page will show the estimated production time before you order, usually anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks. We always recommend contacting us before purchasing if timing is important to you.
Can I cancel or change my order? Once an Made-To-Order order is placed, we reach out to you via an email for final confirmation that you are aware of the uniqueness of your purchase, and you would like to finalize your order. Then the brand begins production quickly. Cancellations and changes may not be possible after the confirmation.
Is made to order the same as custom or bespoke? No. With Made-To-Order, the design is fixed, the brand makes their existing design fresh for you. Custom or bespoke means working directly with a maker to design something new from scratch, which isn't possible via online orders.
What if something arrives and it's not right? Get in touch with us. We work closely with the brands we carry and will help resolve any issues with your order.
Do Made-To-Order items cost more? No. Pricing is set by each brand and reflects their materials and craft. Any pricing differences will be visible on the product page.
How will I know when my order is on its way? You'll receive updates as your order moves through production, and a shipping notification with tracking once it's dispatched.
